December Reflections: Gratitude, Giving, and Gathering

Dear Village,

As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves slowing down by making time to rest, to gather around the table, and to reflect on the journey we’ve shared. December reminds us of the beauty in stillness, the comfort of good food, and the joy of being surrounded by those we love.

The year 2025 brought its share of highs and lows, lessons and growth. Through it all, My Hair My Health PDX has remained grounded in gratitude for our village, for every conversation and connection, and for the continued belief in our mission to center Black women’s health and wellness.

As part of our End-of-Year Giving Campaign, we’re offering a special tote and t-shirt combo (while supplies last) for every donation of $50 or more made through our website. Once you have made your donation please send us a screenshot of your confirmation page to hello@myhairmyhealthpdx.org so we can arrange shipping details!

Every single dollar makes a difference and each contribution helps us expand our programs, create healing spaces, and build a future where Black women and families can thrive.

However you choose to celebrate this season, we hope it’s filled with warmth, love, and peace. Thank you for walking alongside us this year. Here’s to rest, renewal, and continued opportunities for growth in the year ahead.

With gratitude and love,

Adejoke Babatunde & Dr. Joyce Senior
Executive Director & Deputy Director
My Hair My Health PDX

Co-founded by Executive Director Adejoke Babatunde and Deputy Director Dr. Joyce Senior. My Hair My Health PDX has been doing community programs since 2017, and was established as a 501(c)(3) organization in May 2021.

The guiding principles of My Hair My Health PDX:

  • Centering Black Women and their families
  • Generational Healing
  • Cultural Food Traditions
  • Movement for Body and Soul

Our mission is to create a safe space of healing and celebration that inspires Black women and their families to live their best lives.

Rooted in our four principles, our vision is to build a collaborative village through events, resources, networking opportunities, workshops and classes that uplift our mind, body and soul while connecting us to ourselves and to one another.

We are a movement redefining beauty on our own terms—celebrating it from the inside out and inspiring self-love, wellness, and empowerment. Join our village and help us continue to uplift, inform, and celebrate Black women and their families by subscribing to our newsletter.
